JANUARY 20, 2009 PRESIDENT OBAMA SWORN IN AS THE 44^th PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

As I write these words, my wife Susan & I are proudly watching the presidential inauguration. I think there is new hope & optimism today. President Obama has officially taken over the leadership of the United States of America.

I believe that whether or not you voted for Obama, we must all pull together & support our President. I am proud to live in a country where any child born in the good ole USA can grow up to be President. I hope & pray that our new leadership can help guide this country out of the recession. It’s gonna be hard work & it’s gonna take some time, but I think we have the people in place to get this country back to normal.

Anyway, let’s all get behind the new president. My advice to him would be the same as it is for my kids or anybody else…”Get up early, work hard all day & good things will happen.” GOD BLESS AMERICA.

Yesterday, January 19, 2009 was Janis Joplin’s 66^th birthday. I am very proud to have my Janis Joplin tribute bike at the Gulf Coast Museum in Port Arthur, Texas, the birthplace of Janis. They had some special events planned yesterday to celebrate her birthday & they tell me they had a great turnout.

Janis was born 1-19-1943 & she died 10-4-1970. She had a very sad life I think. She achieved remarkable fame & fortune, but she never captured the thing she wanted most, which was true love.  She once said “I make love to 10,000 people a night, then I go home alone.” I wish I would have known her. The way she sang her songs used to mesmorize me as a teenager & they continue to inspire me as an artist.

That’s why I built my Janis bike. I felt like she had given so much to me over the years that I wanted to give something back to Janis. Hey Janis, I know you’re rocking out in Heaven with John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, Jerry Garcia & Jim Morrison & I hope you have finally found what you have been looking for.

There are millions of us fans that still love you & enjoy your music every day. I love you Janis, Happy Birthday.
