The Rick Fairless Bike Show & Parts Expo: April 2010

September 21, 2009

rfcardPlease, mark your calendar for the inaugural “Rick Fairless Bike Show & Parts Expo” April 10-11, 2010 at Market Hall in Dallas. This is a 2 day show – All day on Saturday & Sunday! It will be a HUGE bike show with lots of cool stuff planned.

At Market Hall we will have an unbelievable bike show, a parts swap meet, motorcycle celebrities, live music, a bikini contest, lots of cool vendors & much more. I will also have some cool cars at my show. If ya’ll have any ideas of things you’d like to see at my show, please let me know. I am VERY excited about this.

We will also be having a big party at Strokers during those 2 days, with live music, vendors & bikini gals all weekend. This will be kinda like we have done in the past with the Easyriders Show. I will be running 3 busses back & forth from Strokers to Market Hall all weekend. Market Hall is only 3 miles south of Strokers so the busses will run every 30 minutes. That way you can park at Strokers, listen to live music, eat a burger, get a beer, carry it on the bus to the show & then ride the bus back to Strokers when you’re done checking it out.

You can check out the show website, www.rickfairlessbikeshow.com for more details. The promoter is my friend Neil Ryan from American Thunder Promotions. He also puts on the Arlen Ness show in San Francisco & the Donnie Smith show in Minneapolis. I’m here to tell you that you don’t want to miss this show. It’s a big deal to me & I am very proud to put this show on for you. Please come check it out.

If you are from out of town & you have always wanted to come visit Strokers, this is the perfect weekend to plan your trip. You can email my gal Meghan (meghan@strokersdallas.com) for discounted hotel info & anything else you might need while you’re here. We can help you arrange to have your bike shipped to Dallas, or you can rent one while you’re here. We are located right next door to Love Field airport & Southwest Airlines corporate offices, so flying in from out of town is super easy.

If you have a cool bike you want to enter it in the competition, you can also email Meghan. If you’re a vendor, or if you’re interested in being a sponsor, same thing- email Meghan. This is huge for me & I’d appreciate all ya’lls support. I promise you’ll have a large time!  As always, if you want to email me directly, my email is rick@strokersdallas.com. Thanks ya’ll.

Lone Star Rally

October 29-November 1

Rick and the crew will be hosting “Rick’s Psychedelic Road Trip” at the Lone Star Rally in Galveston this year. We’ll have bikes on display, merchandise for sale, and of course Rick will be on hand to shake hands and say hey.

It’s been a while since we’ve attended the Lone Star Rally and we’re looking forward to going back. We’re always up for supporting a Texas Rally!

So plan to join us at ”The World’s Largest Halloween Party,” October 29th – November 1st. Look for our spot at the corner of Mechanic and 25th Street. Should be a good time!

Lee Harvey Oswald

September 16, 2009

The Irving, Texas house that Lee Harvey Oswald was staying in when he killed the president was recently sold to the City of Irving.

For many years I lived on W. 7th street in Irving. My Dad always told me that Lee Harvey Oswald had lived in that neighborhood when he shot Kennedy, but we didn’t know exactly which street it was. Well, one day my daughter Lena (Bigun) & I went to the Sixth Floor Museum in Downtown Dallas (for you Yankees, that’s where Oswald was when he fired the shots that killed Kennedy). Bigun noticed an application for employment that Oswald had filled out using an address in Irving. Well, that address was 2515 W. 5th Street in Irving, Texas. My Dad was right, Oswald lived 2 blocks from my house.

Bigun & I couldn’t wait to go see that house. When we did, it was kinda eerie. We just sat in front of the house imagining Oswald mowing the lawn or looking out the window or whatever. Today that house is appraised at $84,000 & the City of Irving just bought it for $224,000. I wish I’d have known it was for sale. I would have bought it & let Bigun move into it. Anyway, I’ll never forget that time when Bigun & I went to see that house, we were so excited!

Rare Joe T Video

September 14, 2009

Look what I found buried in Joe T’s attic:

This is a video of Joe T & his Ma at Six Flags when Joe T was just a kid in the late 1960’s. By the way, he still squeals like this when he gets upset! You’re welcome Joe!
