Rick Fairless Charity Golf Tournament

March 5, 2010

On Thursday April 8th we held a charity golf tournament benefitting the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. It was a beautiful day & we had 73 golfers. We played at Riverside Golf Club in Grand Prairie & it’s a really nice golf course. We even had Nyle Pruitt out there. Nyle is a long drive distance champion. He can hit the ball 400 yards with accuracy. It was amazing to watch him hit a golf ball. He hit one 327 yards – off his knees – straight down the middle of the fairway!

The winning team of Chad Gray, Dooley Gonzalez, Chris Schroeder, & Glen Carter won with a low score of 58. Wow! Don’t ask who scored the worst score of the day (Me, Joe T, Goose & Dean DePhillips…sorry Dean).

I am very proud to say that we raised $12,360 for the kids! You know, that’s what it’s all about. It just makes me feel so good to be able to hand the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital that check. They do so many good things for so many children & their families. It doesn’t matter if you’re unemployed or filthy rich like my pal Joe T, they don’t charge anybody one single cent for they fine work they do. They only exist on the donations that you & I provide. I actually had a gentleman come up to me last week & he just wanted to meet me & shake my hand, when I asked him why, he said it’s because of the good things that we do for the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital. No Sir- it’s my pleasure & I wish I could do more (& I will).

I want to send out a heart felt Thank You to everyone who came out to support this wonderful hospital. Also, a big thank you to our sponsors: Andrews Distributing (Miller Lite), Safety Tubs, Viper Motorcycles, LA Fitness, West End Charities, Water Works Plumbing, Hank Ham Insurance, Mitchell Drywall, and Big Inc Printing. Without the help from businesses like these, we wouldn’t have been able to do it.

Man, I still feel good about raising that money for the kids & dang it, I’m gonna do it again next year! Thanks ya’ll & let’s make it bigger & better next year. Thanks to Stephanie Brigger & all the fine people at the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for what you do to help our children.

Rick Fairless Bike Show & Parts Expo: Recap

April 26, 2010

Vendors - 2010 Rick Fairless Bike Show by RickFairlessBikeShow.I want to thank everyone that came out to support my inaugural Rick Fairless Bike Show & Parts Expo. It was a swell time & I think everyone enjoyed the show. We had some of the finest bikes from the south on display. I couldn’t believe the quality of bikes that were there in the show. They were outstanding! I also had about 10 cars in the building on display & they were a hit for sure. We also had some really cool vendors that came from all over the country to my show here in Big D. We had a pretty good selection of swap meet stuff & really cheap prices. On Saturday we had a bikini contest & it was a smoking hot competition. I also had a shuttle bus running back & forth between Market Hall & Strokers.

I want to congratulate all the winners, ya’ll should be really proud of your bikes & I am proud to have had them at my show. The winner of the Pro Class was Steve Galvin with his Area 51 Pro Street Radical. What a cool bike. Other Pro Class winners were Christian Dotson, Derek Johnson, Russ Hess, and Jay Carpenter. Thanks to everyone who entered their bike. It was a great show.

I am really pleased with the turnout we had for our first year. We have Market Hall rented for the next 4 years & we are already working on the 2011 show. I have lots of new ideas that ya’ll will dig. Next years show will be held April 2-3, 2011. Anyway, thanks for coming out & if you didn’t make this year, then I hope to see you next year. The 2011 show will be even bigger & better.

I would like to welcome Bikernet.com as a new sponsor for my TEXAS HARDTAILS SCOOTER SHOW radio show. I have known the owner of Bikernet.com – Keith Ball – for almost 20 years. Keith was the editor of Easyriders magazine for many years. He knows everyone in this industry & everyone knows him. Keith was instrumental in getting me into the Hamsters & played an important role in me opening Strokers Dallas. Bikernet.com is the place to go for anything that’s happening in the motorcycle world. Most of the motorcycle news that Joe T & I talk about on the radio show comes from Bikernet.com. Now you can also watch our radio show on his website. Please, check out www.bikernet.com & let me know what you think.

Piss on this winter

March 2, 2010

Two weeks ago the city of Dallas had 12.5’ of snow in a 24 hour period. That is the most stinking snow ever in Dallas, Texas & it sucked! We don’t get snow in Dallas. Ok, maybe every couple of years we’ll get a 1/2” or so, but 12.5” is crazy. As you can imagine, the city was paralyzed. This has been the worst winter I can ever remember in Dallas & I’m born & raised here. We usually ride year round down here, but not this winter (how do you Yankees do it?). It’s depressing man, my brother had to talk me off the ledge a couple of times (I have a 2 story house)! The economy already is killing us & now this! Well, I can smell spring in the air. For the first time in several months we had a warm & sunny weekend & ya know what, we were packed! Saturday & Sunday we had sunny skies & temperatures in the 60’s & the joint was jumping. My business is kinda like a golf course, when the sun is shining we’re really busy & when it’s cold & rainy, we’re dead. Thank God I live & work in Dallas, Texas, because brother, we normally have great weather down here! Anyway, we survived this winter & we are past ready for spring. I have lots of things happening & I’ll write more about that soon.

Future Motorcycle?

February 11, 2010

Is this the future of motorcycling? I sure hope not!
